First of all, get yourself a good pair of shoes: comfortable, good for walking, and which may look fancy for you to get along with the crowd. Or not. You’re going to get along with the crowd anyway. Why? Because Berlin is big. No, it is huge. No, it is massive!
People from every corner of the World gather in Berlin, with their own cultural backgrounds, dressing codes, languages, and mixtures. There is also people wearing business suits coming along with punks. As long as I can see, in a grater atmosphere of tolerance as sometimes are shown around. So, people is not going to notice you unless you wish so and go for it.

I try to imagine how is to live in here, having a regular life, complimenting your neighbors every morning, taking the pets for a walk, buying bread in the closest bakery, seeing the beautiful girl next door passing by and so on. I just can wonder; I am a tourist, I’ll be here just for a very short period. No way for really integrating the place. But I can survive that.
By the way, people I’ve met are really gentle and honest.
But, back to the beginning, are you really up to go to Berlin and stay there for a while? What do you want to do there? What do you want to learn in there? What do expect to find?
Well, a good way for beginning, as long as you’ve already got you comfortable pair of shoes, is doing walking tours.
These walking tours are free (just leave a tip for the guide by the end of the tour, it is surely worth of it!), are fun, are really interesting, and may take you the entire day sometimes. In these tours you can surely meet lots of people and hang out with them by the night.
You can choose many flavors of tours: historical Berlin tours, Second World War tours, museum tours, alternative tours and so on.
About a week ago, I’ve done this historical Berlin tour. The guide was a cool guy, had a very didactic way for telling the people the history of the places he was taking us to, but no great novelties. Nice for doing once, knowing the history of the place, seeing in loco where many important events for the World took place on, realizing that this history shaped a lot on our nowadays’ way of life. In Berlin, it seems, the scars from the WWII are much deeper and visible than in other places I’ve been at. And not to mention, these same scars are also responsible for a significant part of the tourism, as they are great source of history.
Today, I went to an alternative walking tour. By alternative, you can pick up nightlife, young people eager for fun, alcohol, subculture (I really cannot understand the concept of subculture, for me, I just another face for culture, a way of expression and, for some, even a way of life, which, in my humble-but-not-so-humble opinion, do not deserve to be put down, being called “sub”), music, extreme sports, wannabe exclusive, cheap, and kindda hippie clothing stores, and the “I don’t care for capitalism” attitude. And the conjunctive tissue for all of this, Mr. Freud may surely explain.
In this tour during the afternoon, we visited many places that are supposed to be very cool places during the night, where the locals usually go.
I missed this part, but people started to walk at Alexanderplatzt, where many young people and tourists gather around, heading next the Hacksheke Market, where lies some universities and, as I’ve heard, is a prostitution area as well. Going down through the Oranienburgishestrasse, we went to a very old fire station building, half destroyed, where people have made a kind of open air atellieur, doing some artwork with metal, glass and grafitti. Oh, grafitti! It is simply everywhere! There are many colorful, huge and very creative ones! They contest authority, they praise music and pop art, and are sometimes placed in a fashion that may show a great contrast, almost a paradox, with tome traditional ways of seeing art, like in this picture below:

We will get back to the graffiti soon, as it is present everywhere. In this place, one can find also bars, cinemas, theaters, small shops and so on. It is almost a “subculture mall”, if such a place could exist.
If you go to Taschelles during the day, there is no way to imagine how this place is active – and fun! - at night. The bars are full, but not overcrowded, many cool people around, beautiful girls, good music and so on. One must just be careful about the barmen - they tend to be very generous with themselves when giving back your change, so be sure to care small bills and many coins, specially if your currency is cheaper than the euro! Hopefully, you can stay in the place until down and drink on the streets without having any problem with local laws. Anyway, for those who are up for the night, it’s surely a good place check.
From there, we were taken to a place called name of the place, which is, again, a fertile ground for (sic) subculture. And, besides the small and quite park we have in the area, surrounded by very cheap apartments, what can we find? Graffiti. Once more graffiti. Huge graffiti. Such combination of low price and young people has been making the place an attractive point for artists, entrepreneurs and even investors.
The graffiti on the buildings around give the area an air of informality. As seen in the pictures, there are some beautiful pieces of artwork, like the two fully painted entrances.
The first one makes part of a series of big wall paintings on the entire building.

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-3656667739577134392008-08-15T09:58:00.000-07:002008-08-15T15:27:21.417-07:00Street Art Berlin #4

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-4486477069562034382008-08-15T09:51:00.001-07:002008-08-15T15:27:38.547-07:00Street Art Berlin #3
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234788863354855442" style="WIDTH: 330px; It seems the Germans’ fondness for rules and structure is slightly broken and modified here in Berlin and that, among other things is what makes Berlin a unique German metropolis. To give a trivial example, the average Münchener pedestrian who crosses the road only on green will be surprised to find that the average Berliner will cross on green or red. My point is that Berlin is a very liberal and diverse city. More Turkish people live in Berlin than any city outside of Turkey. The gay (male and female) population, which includes the mayor himself is also prominent here in Berlin. These examples, while they do not account for Berlin’s full spectrum of cultural diversity, do show that Berlin is accepting of people from different walks of life.

Berlin is also a fun city. The nightlife here is very good and seems sometimes to last 24 hours a day. There are many bars, clubs, discos, restaurants and cafes scattered all over the city. The guy one might see outside a bar drinking Becks beer at 8 o’clock in the morning may very well be there the next day still drinking. It is ironic to think that only 60 years ago, such diversity and openness would have been squashed under Hitler’s terrible regime. In a sense, Berlin is rebelling against its dark and oppressive past. Inantiodrohmea, the tendency for something to become its opposite is a good term to describe Berlin’s present state. The city’s openness and cultural diversity along with its nightlife are what makes Berlin a great place to be a young adult/ student. Needless to say, Berlin has played a crucial role in modern history. It has been through one World War and nearly a third, with the advent of the Cold War. Young adults/students travelling in Berlin can also explore and learn about the city’s rich history as well enjoying its nightlife. There are many tours, monuments, museums, memorials and other structures to be seen and certainly not to be missed while here in Berlin. Having said, being a young adult in Berlin is both a fun and educational experience. On a final note, Berlin is a rebuilding and dynamic metropolis. With the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, the city has been burdened with a heavy debt. So while it may not be the wealthiest city in Germany, it is showing signs that it is looking forward towards the future. You can see this with the new age Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz and the recently finished, state-of-the-art Hauptbahnhof or Central Train Station. With its multicultural and liberal nature, Berlin has a bright and promising future ahead of it so it will be an exciting time to be here to see this change take place.

My Top 10 Berlin
1. To make it more complicated, Berlin is unsurprisingly a huge amount of things. Most of which are pretty much un-listable. Even the mood or energies vary place to place. To give a blanket judgement of calling an area hip or boring is kind of foolish and certainly a personal opinion. But I do make judgements. It could be the age of the people walking about, the street art or lack of it, and even if the people cross the road on the red man or not. Well, you would find many things in Berlin. One of which is dog shit on the streets but not everywhere. One thing I found was something within me. Maybe that is what Berlin can do. Possibly it’s not the place at all, just the people. But it’s something and that something is here. We all have our favourite places. Places we feel comfortable. The streets of Berlin to me feel comfortable and easy going. They have a certain calm to them. It’s what I would call an almost meditative though buzzing energy. Not every street mind. Just in what I would call the cool places. Sometimes the places are too cool. Especially when it is -10*c and snowing. But when the suns out topping 35*c, you can taste the hotness. Berliners like to linger in the shade and Berlin does have many places to linger. You can head under a tree in the Tiergarten or you can seek the sun at the Badeschiff. Sometimes they linger around rather than work and actually it all feels very French. Rush hour doesn’t really exist, except if you count the night, when Berliners are travelling party to party.

Ranvir Singh Bassi

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-25384701781558067992008-08-15T09:00:00.001-07:002008-08-15T15:28:49.780-07:00My Berlin... To be in Berlin, to spend time here, to explore this amazing town means something different! Obviously everybody wants to spot famous and well-liked buildings, visit museums, galleries and exhibitions. I’m not an exception. I love sightseeing! The feeling of recognizing an image from a picture and then realizing I’m there, standing right in front of it! But what makes me lose my breath is the atmosphere, people, Berlin on its own... This city is just for everybody, it is an actual mixture of nationalities, bizarre personalities, cultures and everyone can go his own way of interests, there are no judgements. In Berlin everybody is an individual... For me Germans have their own style of life, it is some kind of system of unwritten law which people keep. I find them very disciplined. Young people though are friendly and open-minded, having fun every night with a glass of beer in one of the pubs or beer gardens. They don’t care that much about others, the mood in the streets is more chilled and there is no rush! That is one of the reasons people come here. It is just something special and unique! There is no way of getting bored in here. There are so many things going on every day, doesn’t matter what you are interested in- music, art, fashion, club events... Everybody gets a chance to show who they are, express their individuality and to become a part of Berlin. In my opinion one of the best cities of the world!

My top 5: Mercedes showroom
Topography of Terror
Beach
Fair trade restaurant (no2)
madam tussauds
Adidas originals

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-67205497750268304182008-08-15T08:57:00.001-07:002008-08-15T15:29:02.064-07:00My Berlin... The last time I saw my Berlin-based family members – my father’s cousin and her two teenage daughters – was three years ago in northern Germany, however I had always promised that I would come to visit them one day.

I was so thrilled when Jeremy, the project leader of writing this book, offered me a place in the group. I was in France on my year abroad working as an English Language Assistant at the time, really needing to spend some time in Germany – I had done the French part of the year abroad, now I needed to do the German part (I start my final year of a French and German degree in October 2008). I wanted to do something different to being an assistant again or studying at a German university, so the project was an amazing and fun opportunity. So, Berlin here I came...

My naïve images of the city before I arrived were the Brandenburg Gate and parts of the Wall that were preserved, however, as I was to discover, there is so much more that it has to offer.

My first night in Berlin was a hectic one, having landed at Schönefeld Airport at nearly 10pm. I was greeted by Lutz, a member of the team organising the project, who kindly bought me a well-needed beer (I am not a drunk, seriously!). I finally arrived at where I live at gone 1am, so not only was I tired, but I had to make the most of any sleep that I got, because we started the project immediately the next day.

Several weeks have passed since then, and, although I have had ups (seeing Annette, Janna and Mara – my family living in Berlin – and scoring 193 in one game of bowling) and downs (chronic chest pains – thank goodness that hot water bottles exist!), I have loved every minute.

Of all the places I have been, I really enjoyed looking at Berlin from the Fernsehtaum (TV Tower), the symbol of East German technology. The lifts go up and down at an incredible speed – 5.273 metres per second, the fastest in Europe. But, when you get to the viewing gallery, 210 metres above ground, the view is unbelievable. You can see literally everything the city has to offer and more – seeing the sunset is one of the best things to experience.

When I leave Berlin, I am not quite leaving Germany. I am going to the north to see some more of my family, but, nevertheless, it will be sad to have to say goodbye to the group. I know that whatever I do and wherever I go in life, I will look back on writing this book with fond memories. I just hope that you get as much pleasure reading it as I did writing my parts.

My top recommendations to see/go to/do in Berlin:
1 Going up the Fernsehtaum (TV Tower)
2 Going on a walking tour of Berlin
3 Eating Bienenstich from ‘Kunsper Bäcker’
4 Bowling at ‘BowlingCenter am Alexanderplatz’
5 Visiting Grosser Mügelsee
6 Eating a kebab at ‘Tat Köfte’
7 Eating the best Currywurst and chips from ‘Beckers Fritten’

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-16895327774494799032008-08-15T08:55:00.001-07:002008-08-15T15:29:16.423-07:00My Berlin.... The weather was welcoming but nevertheless I was apprehensive. I had no idea what to expect.
After dropping our luggage at what was to be our home for the next 6 weeks, we headed for some of the sights of Berlin.
In all honesty, on my first visit to the Brandenburg Tor, its importance was lost on me. Similarly I had to ask a friend who Marx’s companion – Engels – was as we passed statues erected near Alexanderplatz in tribute to the revolutionary philosophers. I felt a little out of my depth in Berlin’s vast ocean of culture.
As the weeks passed and I became accustomed to seeing a new place of historical significance each day, my understanding of the city and its countless attractions began to grow. Embedded in its past are many stories ranging from sorrowful and poignant to resilient and even victorious. With each story came further explanation of how Berlin has evolved into such a fascinating place where new and old co-exist seamlessly.
Having hosted the frontline of an international conflict that ended less than two decades ago, it has done remarkably to remain in such good condition and not simply give in. The hallmarks of old regimes once used as weapons in war are now preserved as traditions to keep the memory of a time where people were in constant fear and subjected to extreme suffering. The spirit of Berliners of those times is not forgotten and now forms part of a new spirit that is unmistakable and admirable given the adversity the city faced.
But Berlin is more than just a city with a history. The troubles it has gone through have provided its newer generations with a motivation to explore their freedom and they have not ignored this calling. As well as a cultural plethora it has a nightlife so vast and diverse and so many different places to visit it’s difficult to decide where to go and what to do.
Of course it has the draw backs of any major city: street-salesmen, busy roads and long queues in shops for example but somehow these things are erased from any memory I have of Berlin thus far. The experiences I can recall tend only to be positive ones.

Tom Eleftheriades

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-62390684456710078312008-08-15T08:50:00.001-07:002008-08-15T15:29:28.443-07:00My Berlin.... That is what gives Berlin its allure, because as a younger relative of other European capitals, Berlin continues to consistently reinvent itself into something new and fresh at any given opportunity (or so it would seem!). Personally, Berlin will always be a historical city, with hundreds, even thousands of small historical quirks waiting to be found, and nothing are greater testaments to Berlin’s historical oddities, than the hundreds of museums, which meticulously chart every obscure event to occur in the city, be they musical, cultural, historical or even record to its broad-mindedness (the Erotikmuseum certainly springs to mind as one example here, not to mention the Schwules Museum or the Guggenheim): from a medieval trade town, to a cultural mecca in the C17th, power centre of the Third Reich, divided island in the middle of East Germany, up to its rejuvenation into a city for alternative culture, the city has always been heads and shoulders ahead of other German cities when it came to that liberal culture which dominated in the 1920’s and has come back to the fore since the 1980’s. In addition to the famous liberalism, Berlin has continued to impress me as a centre for high culture (the city is not exactly a stranger to the term!), with impressive dedication to maintaining monuments which follow the history, despite the great financial cost to the city (the Berliner Dom being one more notorious example). The city is unique, in that it has never developed as one whole; rather as a collection of many different towns, so at least in Berlin, you can be certain that no two areas will ever be quite the same, and frankly who would really want that? Truly, no two people will ever have the same experience of the city, be they the student-bubble of Friedrichshain, the middle-class and delightfully rustic German suburb of Charlottenburg, the touristy Mitte, or the unconventional and diverse Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.

Top 10 Must-Dos in Berlin
1. Its recent past may be almost unparalleled in terms of monumental socio-political importance but the intelligent and open-minded attitude held by most Berliners, and exhibited in many museums, regarding Berlin’s turbulent recent past has enabled the city to now live rooted in the present. Although skin-head neo-Nazis may still have an unfortunate place within some of Berlin’s outskirts; anti-Nazi bars, graffiti and events are prevalent in the city centre where racial, disabled and homosexual acceptance is markedly high.
Artists and musicians live to promote and exhibit their work with free flyers, magazines and guides littering counters in every bar, shop and restaurant. You’re sure to find the collection of these an addictive process with quirky sites, local listings and appealing oddities on offer everywhere you look providing a endlessly renewing jigsaw puzzle of information regarding ‘What’s On’ in the city.
Tourists just passing through are encouraged to shed their title and integrate into a community with each area featuring folk going out of their way to add a little culture and colour. Find your interest and join in as community vibes are evident in all areas bar the very centre of the city with local bars in Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Prenzlauerberg particularly adept at providing a consistent crop of burly locals with whom you can practice your German, just so long as you wear a smile and say ‘bitte.’ Parks, galleries and theatre or film events are also great ways of getting plugged in to whatever’s happening in your area. On top of the guide given here, check ’Zitty’ and ’Tip’ magazines for in depth listings whilst scouring flyers and posters on your wanderings. Indeed keep your eyes open in general as some of the best art is to be found suddenly as you turn a corner, with massive murals, stencils and painted blocks exhibiting political satire, kitsch emotion and self-conscious style.
As a place to live as a youngster or student, Berlin seems to provide a thrilling experience. Immaculately kept football pitches, community parks and playgrounds are dotted throughout the city’s districts. Rarely empty, these sites provide an ideal place to meet friends and stay healthy with stone table tennis tables usually found in the nooks and crannies of most green spaces. Cycling paths line the majority of the streets in the city and are filled with young people on their way to wherever. Situated half on and off the pavements, you’ll learn very quickly that these are a cyclists domain and that nothing will get in their way. Cycle schemes akin to those set up in Lyon and Paris are available across the city whilst hiring and renting is comparatively cheap and easy. Locals don’t tend to wear helmets, such is their assumed dominance over cars and pedestrians, however as a Berlin newbie, this is not advised. Instead, keep your eyes and ears open and enjoy the best way to get about the city.
For older teens and twenty something’s, the city’s night-time jewels are numerous with cheap art-galleries, museums and café’s providing equally unprecedented choice during the daytime. Chat to young Berliners and you’re sure to be struck by their confidence, friendly manner and general stylish appearance. Music venues throughout the city are generally un-commercialised with even the most popular spots, retaining an individual character. ‘O2 World’ is the only exception, an ugly eyesore needlessly plonked amid Warsahauer Strasse’s bubbling river-side. However, avoid this, and you’re sure of a fairly cheap acoustic treat - depending on the band of course. Busker’s in the city and in the subway unsure you don’t even need to fork out to enjoy some quality music. Plenty of foreigners and strangely dressed individuals play anything from funk to blues providing an endless stream of music for your travels from A to B. Indeed, freebies in general are fairly easy to come by, though strictly speaking, tips are expected for the excellent free walking tour and at the numerous free-trade restaurants situated predominately in East Berlin.
The “‘All nighter‘? more like ‘all morning’” attitude to nightlife is one of Berlin’s trademark characteristics. Your nearest city may have its rush-hour at 8-9am but here its more like 4-6am and you can be sure that that’s not people heading to work. Keep away from the overpriced tourist traps and you can be sure of a great night out alongside chirpy, buzzing folk equally at home within the wee small hours. Use this guide to visit some of the restaurants and cafes; bars and clubs and general local hangouts that make Berlin belong to its people and become a Berliner yourself for as long as you’re here. Know the locals and you’ll be introduced to underground Berlin where the exuberance of young life, so evident on every Berlin surface; breaks into outright primal ecstasy. Dance, communicate and live while in Berlin as its one of the best places in the world for it.

Berlin Top 10.

1. Liberal tolerance.
2. Night Life.
3. That’s Berlin!
And that is Berlin. But my Berlin isn’t mine because of what it is to other people...
My Berlin is mine because we are kindred spirits.
Though I’m 21 and the city dates back some 800 years, Berlin and I are both relatively young. And yet, a hell of a lot has happened in our respective lifetimes. In growing up we’ve had some awesome parties; we’ve seen some significant people come and go, and we’ve won and lost battles (though admittedly mine were of a little less importance, internationally). We enjoy reminiscing and occasionally dwell on the past but, for the most part, we have embraced change and relish it. And they say we’ve still got bright, shining futures ahead of us.
Berlin and I can be serious and we do value the importance of good, honest, hard work. But we know all too well how difficult it can be to get anything done at all when the beer is this good; when the Reichstag looks so pretty at night, and when there’s ice-cream that looks like spaghetti, for crying out loud.
Berlin and I fall in love at least a dozen times a day, be it with the perfect kebab; or the new sound everyone’s excited about; or that guy on the U-Bahn we just know is going places...
We are loved by those who matter and both Berlin and I appreciate our people and know for a fact that we’d be lost without them.
OK, so we may be a little cash-strapped just now. And it’s hard to imagine a time when we won’t still be paying off credit cards, student loans, reparations... But there is absolutely no way that we’re going to let that stop us having a seriously good time right now. In my eyes, that’s the spirit of Berlin. She is what she is and that’s it.

“I love Berlin because I’m completely lost half the time but I never really get that Oh-shit-where-am-I?! feeling.”

Georgia’s Top 10
(in the order they popped into her head)

10. I hadn’t quite imagined what the ramifications of such a shift would have upon the character of the city, its people and its aesthetics.
Without a doubt it is the diversity of Berlin that has won my heart. Everywhere you go there is old next to new, traditional mixed with modern and people of all cultures, beliefs, styles and ages coming together to create one of the worlds most exciting cities.
One thing I was very keen to see here was the street art, as I have known artists who have travelled from Australia to leave there own creative mark on the skin of Berlin. The quality of this artform is exceedingly high, though with the acceptance of graffiti art comes a lot of ugly scribble from the less inspired. Kreutzberg and Freidrichshain have some the most famous murals, but it can be found in all districts.
After pounding the pavements, riding the rails and partying in various playgrounds around town there are 2 areas of the city that have become my favourite, both located in what was the old East Berlin. After 18 years of liberation these 2 areas strike me as being like youthful teenagers with a head full of ideas, knowing no limits to their potential and being excited about their futures. Friedrichshain, although still gritty and grungy is home to a burgeoning underground scene. Clubs, galleries, shops and bars all exude a trendy alternative air. To be hidden away and elusive seems to attract the curious, adventurous and enigmatic. To be bold, colourful, well positioned and minimalist attracts the fashionable and beautiful.
Prenzlauer Berg bordering Mitte is one of the old Eastern districts that has boomed since the fall of the wall, going from rags to riches over the last 2 decades. Restaurants, nightclubs, venues and cafes are plentiful in this fab stretch from Eberswalder down to Hackescher Market in Mitte.
Having spent a lot of time in my local area of Kreuzberg, its seedy, ethnic, run down exterior has grown on me like a poisonous fungus. Scratch beneath the surface and there is plenty of beauty and creativity there, even if you have to squint to see it!
.
MY TOP 10…
Dr. Pong
Restaurant Frarosa
Alternative Berlin Walking Tour
Tacheles Art Gallery and Bar
Der Grosse Mueggelsee
Kathe Kollwitz Museum
Massi African Restaurant
Absinth Depot
Wild At Heart
DRUIDE Absinth Bar

Eastside Gallery

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-31228233337343592122008-08-11T13:33:00.000-07:002008-08-15T15:43:44.177-07:00a few words from the leaders..

This year’s summer GAP 2008 in the creative capital city of Berlin, was indeed a great success! The summer gap programme is designed to be a study/working project for young people. The study part of the programme, involved the participants attending a well known German language school in order to learn and brush-up their German language skills. They were up fresh and early each morning full of energy and ready for the day ahead. The working part of the project was undertaken during the afternoons where they were given a brief to create a tourist guide aimed at students flocking to the edgy and distinctive style capital.

They experienced life in Berlin first hand through the eyes of outgoing international students. They interacted with all aspects of Berlin from eating and drinking, entertainment attractions and nightlife, fashion and style, as well as the evolving history and culture brimming from the extraordinary and ever-changing areas of this very large town. They took part in a number of varied activities Berlin and the thriving surrounding areas have to offer over this six week period.

The people in all our projects are always the ultimate key for fun and success. This year we certainly believe that we chose the highest calibre people for the job and we can personally say that it was an absolute pleasure to work with this year’s team. All participants worked to the best of their ability and pushed themselves to their full potential. We have many fond memories, moments and funny stories from this trip that we hope to keep and cherish forever.

We wish all participants the best of luck in the future and hope to keep in touch with all. We built up a great bond over the past six weeks here in Berlin and would not hesitate in recommending each and every one of them to any potential employer as we feel that they would be an asset to any productive team! These participants have definitely proved themselves and have set the benchmark for the other forthcoming projects.

Lutz Kessner
General manager Curso eG

Each time I think of summer 2008 I have very fond memories of the Berlin Summer gap. I got on really well with the group and had the pleasure to spend some great and funny weeks with them. Their sense of humour and open minds delighted me.

These days had reminded me of my own days of youth and my experiences since then. The vision that they had at the start of the project(?) was impressive. I deeply hope that they will keep all the knowledge that they have acquired for a long time to come and they were also able to pick up some useful experiences.

For the town of Berlin, this type of project means progress in international and increasing dynamics of the city. The German capital is improving its reputation of being a safe and worthwhile destination to visit.

We have had a great time in summer 2008 and gained some great memories. Let’s do another project soon!

Lutz Kessner
General manager Curso eG

City travel teamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18149847519113601719noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7562591059294468027.post-37790062014727113742008-08-11T13:10:00.000-07:002008-08-15T15:44:18.636-07:00Davi´s Absinth Experiments

Meet the absinthmeister!

all the colours of the rainbow...

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233358915101718770" style="DISPLAY: block; Restaurateur Soloman has recreated a small piece of Africa in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, just a short walk from Eberswalder Strasse. Vegetarian dishes are on offer alongside gourmet meats such as Ostrich, Zebra, Springbok and Crocodile. Stylish and authentic décor takes you to his homeland, the menu presented neatly on a handcarved wooden board, the bill delivered in a crafted wooden seed bowl. The food here is fresh not only in quality, but the fusion of flavours are new and exciting. Fruit flavoured beers – mango, banana, passionfruit - are a perfect accompaniment to the exotic menu. Prices vary, but are considered reasonable given the range, the experience and the service with a smile.
Here’s a way to experience the style and flavours of Africa without the cost of a plane ticket.
Note: Also located at 35 GoltzStrasse, Shonenberg, 10781, BERLIN.
